Almondmilkhunni’s EP Star Baby marks the creative rebirth of an artist who is steadfast in her pursuit of healing, learning, and authenticity.

Brandy Schwechler, better known by her stage name Almondmilkhunni, has spent the last year and a half reconnecting with her passion for music.

We were able to chat with Schwechler last year, just before the release of New Jerzey, which became the single that propelled her into a new era.

“I’m really seeking out things that will change me and help me to realize that I don’t know everything. And those moments are kind of what we really need as human beings,” she said.

Over a year later, Star Baby emerged from the ether. A labor that creatively rivaled that of her 2023 album, Enjoy the Ride, not only sonically, but as a means of reconnecting Alondmilkhunni, the musician, and Brandy, the person.

“I think ETR was more about trying to make good songs, whereas Star Baby is about making what I want to make,” she told The Honey Pop.

Star Baby is a 5-track powerhouse. She is not only finding her sound, but her lyricism reaches a depth that is only capable after a period of self-reflection.

The lyrics are punchy and raw— willing you to insert your own meaning between the lines.

Most notably, “Pleaser” is a social criticism of how society demonizes sex work, while still hyper-focused on sexuality.

Schwechler herself is open about her experience stripping as a means to put herself through college. These experiences turned her into an advocate for marginalized and underrepresented individuals. This translates into her music and social activism— informing the way she navigates her own relationships with her fans and as a fan herself.

“I listen to people, my favorite artists, because I love their music, but secondary to that, I like who they seem to be as a person. You can never really know who they are, but what kind of things do they align with? What things do they speak up about? What things do they care about? Like that does matter to me,” she said.

Star Baby emerges as the second act of an artist reclaiming what it means to be a musician in 2025.

“I hope Star Baby allows people to see the best version of themselves. It allows people to accept who they are without shame or embarrassment, even if they don’t know exactly who they are yet,” Schwechler tells Buzz Music.
